To make your extensions go the extra mile and achieve that longevity you desire, follow these important do's and don't for maintaining your hair extensions
Do:
- Use moisturizing/hydrating shampoo and conditioner (Paraben and Sulfate free)
- Gently wash hair 1-2 times a week (max) and rinse thoroughly
- Brush and detangle hair at least 2x a day with a boar bristle brush starting at the ends.
- Always use a Thermal Heat Protectant
- Blow dry your hair 80% dry with your hand before styling and make sure to DRY the top of the wefts to prevent swelling and damage to the hand-tied, flex, infinity and genius wefts
- Apply recommended hair extension oil after styling as hair extensions are porous!
- Use a mineral sunscreen and a tight braid at the beach, when swimming or in super windy conditions
- Sleep with freshly brushed hair in a loose bun or braids
- Always watch your shoulder straps on pocketbooks, knapsacks, and luggage so they are not pulling on your hair extensions
Don't:
- Do not use protein-based products such as Olaplex, Moroccan Oil, or protein dominate-based products. Especially ones that say Keratin and/or repair-reconstruct
- Don't use sunscreen with Avobenzone or Oxybenzone, it will turn your hair extensions peach and will not come out. We recommend a mineral-based sunscreen
- If you choose to get your hair extensions wet in the ocean or pool, we suggest using a swimming cap and/or SATURATE your hair in a recommended conditioner or mask and immediately wash your hair after as Saltwater and Chlorine can cause discoloration on your hair extensions
- Don't use high heat on your blow dryer or hot tools
- NEVER sleep with wet hair, this will cause matting and painful tangles that can ruin your hair extensions
- Don't use purple shampoo or conditioner on hair extensions
